閱讀今天這張牌的時候，讀到一句話，我就卡住了：

 

「她的肝臟雀躍無比」？？？？

 

我不知道一個人的肝臟要如何雀躍無比，於是我去查了原文，咦？英文是「her liver exults in mirth」。前後文都不要看，還真的是肝臟雀躍無比。但是，這到底是什麼意思？回去看原文後，發現中文整段都怪怪的。

我自己重整後，整段應該是這樣的意思：

力量這張塔羅牌，有時候背負著某個女神的埃及名字：奈特。這個名字也許來自女神極為古老的梵文頭銜，即太古深淵(Primordial Abyss) – 卡拉奈特(Kala-Nath)，她以那個裝扮，吞食她所生出來的後代。拉斯向拉(Ras Shamra)泥板的文字，將她描寫成可怕的雅奈森(Anath)或雅奈特(Anat)，在她的神殿中，屠殺大批人類作為獻祭：「她殘暴地擊打，心滿意足，她把他們砍下來，注視著，她狂喜沉迷……..當她雙膝泡在士兵的血裡，她的腰部沾滿戰士凝固的血跡，直到她的神殿裡充滿了殺戮、在每一桌砍殺完。」

我在一本「The Legacy of Canan」中，查到這一段文字的前後文。其實，我在看天黑不要翻牌的中文版中說，雅奈特「在神廟中大肆屠殺獻祭者」，我就想，很奇怪，人家來獻祭，為什麼你要把獻祭者殺掉？雖然說古代的神，行事總是很難理解，但是，這裡就覺得怪怪的。

在那本「The Legacy of Canan」中提到，這一段文字的前面，是以一場宴會開始，巴力可能在烏加里特萬神殿的元老艾爾的“房子”中得到款待，但是，書裡也是說，整段文字不是很清楚是不是一場儀式，特別是很可能是因為乾旱作物不生而做的儀式。有關Anat的那一段從頭開始是這樣的：

 

(Anat) has closed the gate of the house;

She gathers (her) ministrants into the inmost recesses of a cave.

Then Anat smites in the open plain;

She cuts down (her) foes between the walls;

She smites the princes by the sea-shore;

(Anat) 已經關閉了房子的大門；

她將（她的）僕人召集到一個洞穴的最深處。

然後阿納特在開闊的平原上重擊；

她在城牆之間砍倒（她的）敵人；

她在海邊毆打王子；

She annihilates the folk in the direction of the sunrise.

Under her are heads like balls;

Above her (fly) hands like locusts,

Yea, hands like lots of corn in piles

Swiftly attacking.

她朝著日出的方向消滅了人們。

在她的下面是像球一樣的腦袋；

在她（飛）的手上像蝗蟲一樣，

是的，手就像一堆堆的玉米 迅速進攻。

The heads she has tossed on to her back

All together in her bundle.

Her knees she plunges in the blood of the soldiers,

Her loins in the gore of the warriors

With a staff she drives the young men,

Her bent bow at her back.

她扔在她背上的頭 全部堆成了一堆。

她的膝蓋浸入了士兵的鮮血中，

她在戰士的血腥中

她用杖驅趕年輕人，

她的彎弓背在她的背後。

Then Anat reaches her house,

The goddess comes to her palace,

Yet has she not had her fill of slaughtering in the open plain,

Nor of cutting down between the walls.

然後阿納特到達她的房子，

女神來到她的宮殿，

然而她在開闊的平原上還沒殺夠，

在城牆之間也還沒砍夠

She prepares seats for the worriors,

Dressing of table for the soldiers,

Footstools for the heroes.

Violently she smites and gloats,

Anat cuts them down and gazes;

Her liver exults in mirth,

Her heart is filled with joy,

For in the hand of Anat is victory,

For she plunges her knees in the blood of the soldiers,

Her loins in the gore of the warriors

Till she has had her fill of slaughtering in the house,

Of cleaving among the tables.

她為戰士準備座位，

為士兵擺設桌子，

為英雄準備腳凳。

她猛烈地擊打且幸災樂禍，

Anat 將他們砍倒並看著他們；

她因歡樂而狂喜，

她的心裡充滿了喜悅，

因為在阿納特手中是勝利，

因為她的膝蓋浸入了士兵的鮮血中，

她在戰士的血腥中

直到她在屋裡殺夠了，

在桌子之間砍夠了。

The blood of the soldiers is wiped from the house;

The oil of peace is poured out on the walls.

The Virgin Anat washes her hands,

Even her fingers the sister of the prince;

She washes her hands from the blood of the soldiers,

Even her fingers from the gore of the warriors,

士兵的血從屋子抹去

和平的油倒在城牆上

處女雅娜特洗淨她的手

即使她的手指(砍殺了)王子的姊妹(?)

她將士兵的血，從她手上洗去

她將戰士凝固的血漬，從她的手指上洗去

Chairs by chairs,

Tables by tables,

Footstools by footstools she arranges,

She scoops up water and washes,

Even dew of heaven the fatness of earth,

The rain of him who mounts the clouds,

The dew which the heavens pour forth,

(The rain) which is poured forth by the stars,

She sprays herself with the ? of a thousand mountains,

Her slops in the sea (she casts).

她把椅子排好

把桌子排好

把腳蹬排好

她舀起水來洗淨

連天上的甘露，肥沃的土地

駕雲者之雨，

天上傾瀉的露珠，

（雨）由星星傾瀉而下，

她用 ? 千山萬水，

漂浮在海中（她投擲）

 

這段文字寫到這裡，更令人覺得可能是祈雨的儀式，不一定是真的殺人。

姑且不管這是什麼，總之，這一張牌的這一段有三個問題點：

 

1.      The hecatombs of human sacrifices不是指獻祭者，希臘羅馬有個儀式，是The hecatombs of oxen，獻上的祭品是上百頭牛。但是，這裡獻上的祭品則是人。

2.      肝臟雀躍無比，應該是跟下一句的Her heart is filled with joy對杖，所以，我猜是不是興奮到發抖之類的意思，希望有英文母語者或高手來解說一下。

3.      Ras Shamra不是一座遺跡，而是在敘利亞的烏加里特所挖掘出來的一批泥板。

 

我想，應該不會有人想看這些考據。而且，我查了半天，也沒錢可以領，唯一的好處就是增加了很多關於各種神的知識。
